| Summary: Perceptual video quality assessment algorithm | |
VMAF is a perceptual video quality assessment algorithm.
BSD-2-Clause-Patent AND BSD-3-Clause
* Sat Jun 20 2026 Jan Engelhardt <jengelh@inai.de>
- Update to release 3.2.0
* Removed VIF (Visual Information Fidelity) as a core VMAF
feature. VIF is computationally complex and did not
meaningfully improve accuracy after updating the other
features.
* Introduced a few CAMBI-specific optimizations, both algorithmic
and software.
* The single-threaded processing speed improved by 70% and more,
and still 44%+ for 16-threaded.
* Measured the chroma feature at a lower scale, which does not
hurt accuracy.
* Fri Apr 03 2026 Jan Engelhardt <jengelh@inai.de>
- Update to release 3.1.0
* Added `--aom_ctc v7.0` as a recognized option for that testing
mode. (Alliance for Open Media's Common Test Conditions)
* Mon Nov 17 2025 Jan Engelhardt <jengelh@inai.de>
- Add xxd.patch and ditch build dependency on vim's xxd
* Tue Aug 05 2025 Jan Engelhardt <jengelh@inai.de>
- Move vmaf utilities to their own subpackage [boo#1247607]
* Thu Feb 27 2025 Jan Engelhardt <jengelh@inai.de>
- Make specfile compliant with POSIX sh
* Thu Feb 15 2024 Ondřej Súkup <mimi.vx@gmail.com>
- fix dependency on xxd
* Thu Dec 07 2023 Jan Engelhardt <jengelh@inai.de>
- Update to release 3.0
* Removal of deprecated API compute_vmaf().
* First release to include vmaf_cuda_* APIs.
* Speedups and bug fixes.
* Thu Mar 16 2023 Jakob Lorenz <onlyjak0b@mailbox.org>
- Fix "no such built-in model" due to missing build dependency
* Wed Nov 09 2022 Jan Engelhardt <jengelh@inai.de>
- Drop recommends on vmaf-data, the package is gone since vmaf 2.x.
Build model data into the library, since `make install` does not
do anything by default. [boo#1189023]
* Mon Apr 11 2022 Jan Engelhardt <jengelh@inai.de>
- Update to release 2.3.1
* CAMBI extensions: full reference, PQ eotf, up to 16 bit-depth
support, max_log_contrast parameter.
* CAMBI: option to output heatmaps.
